In September 2014 the shorter version of .nz domain names was made available. Registrants were able to register or reserve the shorter version of their current domain name. For example, if someone had “anyname.co.nz” they were able to register or reserve 'anyname.nz'.

This will depend on whether the linked domain name is with 1st Domains, or with another Registrar. If you are unsure of who your registrar is, quickly check with a WHOIS search

Once logged in, click the link 'Claim Your Shorter .nz'
Your reserved domain names will be shown along with any other opportunities to secure the shorter .nz domain for other domain names in your account.
Select the check box next to the domain names you would like to register and click the 'Check Out' button to proceed with the registration.
Linked Domain with Another Registrar
You can register your reserved domain name even if your linked domain is with another Registrar.
Follow these steps below to complete your registration within a few minutes.
Obtain the UDAI for your linked domain name from your existing Registrar. Ask them to email you the UDAI for your domain name. If you are unsure of who your registrar is, quickly check with a WHOIS search here
Visit our domain search page and enter the reserved domain name that you wish to register.
Check the select box and click to register the domain.
Enter the UDAI for your linked domain name and continue with the registration process to complete your registration!
